Looking for guidance to navigate life’s challenges?

✅ Are you a parent wanting tools to help your family communicate better?

✅ Are you a man ready to explore emotions or life changes in a safe space?

✅ Have you experienced trauma or loss and want a way to process it?

These are all good reasons to consider counselling. If you’re seeking support, you already know the value of care, reflection, and growth, and you’re committed to taking the next step.

Counselling is about creating a safe, supportive space to check in, explore feelings, and discover strategies for coping, healing, and connecting—with yourself and others.

Expressive arts activities can be a helpful way to express what’s hard to put into words.

Curious About Healing Through Art?

Searching for support that feels less clinical and more human?

✅ Do you find talking alone isn’t enough to express what you’re carrying?
✅ Are emotions showing up in your body, behaviour, or creativity rather than words?
✅ Are you supporting a child, teen, or family member who struggles to verbalize feelings?
✅ Do you want therapy that honours intuition, imagination, and nervous-system safety?

Art therapy invites reflection through making, noticing, and meaning-making. The focus isn’t the artwork—it’s what emerges through the process.

My name is Ania Telfer.  I am a Certified Canadian Counsellor and hold a Master of Counselling City University of Seattle. Born in Tkaronto (Toronto) to Polish parents, I’ve been based in amiskwacîwâskahikan (Edmonton) since 2006.

Beyond counselling, I’m a professional artist, and I hold a graduate certificate in Spiritually Focused Expressive Arts from St. Stephen's College and a BA in Communications from Concordia University in Montreal. I specialize in trauma-informed, evidence-based therapy, integrating experiential, somatic, and expressive arts approaches with neuroscience, attachment theory, and mindfulness. My practice supports clients in navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and emotional challenges, fostering deep healing and personal transformation.

My therapeutic approach fosters resiliency and hope with a focus on life-affirming interventions. I bring over two decades of arts-based learning experience and a deep understanding of research to my therapeutic work, using creative modalities to promote emotional resilience and well-being.

I am an Equusoma® (Level 1 Student Practitioner): Currently completing Level 1 training in Equusoma® Equine-Facilitated Therapy, an attachment- and trauma-informed approach that integrates equine-assisted experiential work with somatic and relational psychotherapy. This modality supports nervous system regulation, emotional awareness, and relational healing through grounded, body-based interaction with horses. No riding experience is required.

I’ve lived, worked, and traveled across Europe and Asia, speak several languages, and love learning about different cultures. Outside of my counselling practice, I enjoy yoga, a cozy cup of tea, creating art, and spending time in nature. I love water and horses and paint on my hands makes me feel alive!

Nightingale Psychotherapy respectfully acknowledges that, until the end of July, services are provided on Treaty 6 Territory and the homeland of the Métis Nation of Alberta. These are the ancestral and traditional lands of the Cree, Dene, Blackfoot, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, and Métis peoples. I honour the many First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples whose relationships with these lands span countless generations and continue today.

Beginning in August, services will also be provided on the traditional territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees and Esquimalt) Peoples and the W̱SÁNEĆ Peoples on southern Vancouver Island.

I am grateful to the Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community members who have cared for these lands across generations, those who are with us today, those who have gone before us, and those yet to come.
